الشتي بالشوف، خصوصاً بالضيع العالية متل الباروك ونيحا ومعاصر الشوف وعين زحلتا، بيكشف كل شي مأجّل بالبيت. أحسن وقت تجهّز فيه هو تشرين، قبل أول عاصفة.
Winter in the Chouf, especially in the high villages like Barouk, Niha, Maasser el Chouf and Ain Zhalta, exposes everything that was put off at home. The best time to prepare is October, before the first storm.
السطح والمزاريب
Roof and gutters
- نضّف المزاريب من الورق والترابClear leaves and soil from the gutters
- فتّش السطح عن شقوق وجدّد العزل قبل أول شتوةCheck the roof for cracks and renew the waterproofing before the first rain
- تأكّد إنو مي الشتي عم تمشي بعيد عن حيطان البيتMake sure rainwater drains away from the house walls
الصوبيا والتدفئة
Soba and heating
- نضّف قسطل الدخنة وتأكّد إنو موصول صح لبرّاClean the flue pipe and make sure it vents outside properly
- فتّش الوصلات والسدّاداتCheck joints and seals
- خلّي في تهوية بالغرفة وما تنام والصوبيا شغّالة بغرفة مسكّرةKeep the room ventilated and never sleep with a soba burning in a closed room
- ركّب كاشف غاز أول أكسيد الكربون: ما إلو ريحة وخطرFit a carbon monoxide alarm: the gas has no smell and is dangerous

- لفّ القساطل اللي برّا بعازل، خصوصاً بالضيع العاليةWrap outdoor pipes with insulation, especially in the high villages
- فضّي حنفيات الجنينةDrain the garden taps
- اعرف وين محبس المي الرئيسيKnow where the main water valve is
- فتّش السخان قبل ما يزيد الطلب عليهCheck the water heater before demand goes up

Electricity and windows
- ما تحمّل بريز واحد أكتر من دفايةDo not run more than one heater from a single socket
- فتّش وصلة الموتير والإنفرتر قبل العواصفCheck the generator and inverter changeover before storms
- سكّر الشقوق حوالي الشبابيك والأبوابSeal gaps around windows and doors
